The bald-headed, long-faced, droopy-nosed, moustached character drawn by renowned Japanese graffiti artist Esow is a familiar site in downtown Tokyo’s Asakusa district. Esow, born in Tokyo in 1972, came across graffiti at the age of 16 and has since devoted his time to the fusion of traditional Japanese art with graffiti. Esow is a painter with a love for skateboarding and cycling and was involved in the X-COLOR graffiti exhibition at the Mito Contemporary Arts Centre along with many of the top Japanese graffiti writers such as Kress.
