Artist Q&A | Eric Nyffeler

Posted on March 13, 2015 by Stickerbomb Staff

Give us a brief introduction of yourself.
My name is Eric Nyffeler and I am a designer/illustrator/musician/shit-talker/nerd from Omaha, Nebraska in the United States of 'Merica. I spent the last four or five years deep in the screenprinted gigposter world but am starting to shift into more editorial illustration, which I think is going to be a very exciting new chapter.
When did you start designing?
I had very little experience with art before ending up in the design program at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, where I immediately and wholeheartedly fell in love with design, typography, and print making. I screen-printed my first concert poster in 2006 and nothing has been normal since then.
Tell us more about your style.
Describing one's own style is usually the quickest way to embarrass oneself, but I'll give it a try. I would like to think that I am in the middle of some sort of Venn diagram of mid-century American illustration and 60s/70s Polish poster design. Or maybe I'm just a hungover Charlie Harper?
Any exciting projects lined up?
I'm actually planning on dialing down the illustration and design stuff for a month or two and focus on some musical endeavors for a while. I enjoy bouncing back and forth between music and visual art and always feel excited and inspired when I switch back after spending time in a different discipline.
Tell us some random fun facts about yourself
I have never watched the movie "Top Gun" but I try to reference it at least once a day.
I consider pizza to be the one true god.
I denied my own mother's friend request on Facebook.
