THE SOUND OF CITIES
This project involved random small groups of people on the streets and city parks to capture the "sound" of a city. This experience was recreated in Austin and a few major European cities like London, Berlin, Barcelona, Amsterdam.
We would gather in a circle and pass the mic around. Each person would then contribute a sound to the loop with their voices or anything on hand that made a sound.
These layers became a collection of sonic snapshots. Here is the simple mobile recording setup used and a few of those sonic snapshots. Click here to check it out: https://soundcloud.com/jaredkinsler/sets/the-sound-of-cities
Amp = allowed everyone to hear the mix as it was being built.
Mic + wire - passed around to record
Loop pedal - recorded and layered the collected sounds.
For a game about a boy lost in space, I designed music to feel both youthful and lonely.
